John Ranasinghe
Research Engineer
John graduated with a BEng from the University of Western Australia (UWA)
in 1988. He went on to work at the Orbital Engine Company working on
their two stroke engine program. He worked on all aspects of noise and
vibration of engines and installation of engines into vehicles. While
there he studied concurrently for a MEngSc at UWA in the field of
vibration theory with specific application of torsional vibration of crank
train systems. He later moved to England where he worked at the FORD Motor Company in
Dunton on NVH of Diesel Engines.
In 1996 he commenced studying for his PhD at Cambridge University. The
topic of research was turbulent combustion modelling in internal
combustion engines. He went on to do post doctoral work on CFD codes in
the CFD Laboratory at Cambridge University. John started working for CFS in 2001. He is also a College Lecturer at
Downing College Cambridge, supervising undergraduate students in
Mechanics.
