Stewart Cant
Company Founder and Director
Stewart has been working in the field
of computational combustion since 1985, developing turbulent
transport and reaction rate models, mainly for premixed
combustion systems. Recent applications for the modelling
include turbulent explosion phenomena in offshore oil and
gas production plants, stratified combustion in gasoline
direct-injection automotive engines and acoustically coupled
oscillations in lean premixed gas turbine combustors.
His work has been supported by a number
of industrial sponsors including: Shell Research, HSE, Ricardo,
Alstom, Hitachi and Roll-Royce.
In collaboration with his fellow directors
Mark Savill and Bill Dawes, his latest flamelet modelling
has been incorporated into the CFS NEWT suite leading to
a range of applications across the aerospace, oil & gas
industries.
Stewart held the world record
for the largest published premixed combustion DNS from 1999 to 2004, with 56.6 million
points. He is chair of the High Performance Computing in Engineering
Steering Group and a member of the national High Performance
Computing Strategy Committee.
