In addition to our in-house research interests, Cambridge Flow Solutions operate collaborative agreements with academic institutions across the world. In exchange for source-code level access to our technology we gain exposure into the most challenging applications of CFD helping stimulate our core technologies.

We continue to seek additional partnerships with industrial and government research organisations, independent consultancies and university research.

Membership of the collaboration is appropriate for those who realise that without direct source code access to the core CFD modelling their work is restricted to licensing general-purpose commodity CFD from third parties and therefore must compete against other organisations with the same level of technology. Our business is founded on the cutting edge of CFD, we partner those who need to occupy the same to solve their problems.

Recent Developments
Significant progress has been made on the CFS NEWT suite in the last 18 months, and it is now time to make this work available to the existing collaboration. Changes have been introduced to make it easier to objective is to develop NEWT to as a community of collaborators who profit directly from their efforts and who are less dependent on generic COTS.

This upgrade to NEWT and to the working practices of the CFS research collaboration will be made under a new name, The Cambridge NEWT Collaboration (CNC).

Objective of the CNC
The objective of the Cambridge Newt Collaboration (CNC) is to create collaboration between like-minded researchers in institutions and organisations around the world based on working with and developing the NEWT system of CFD software. CFS hopes the CNC leads not only to high quality, publishable work, but also an increasing ability to engage with industrial problems via consultancy or contract activities.

Source Code Access: The enabler for cutting edge commercialisation
The NEWT Suite is the core product of Cambridge Flow Solutions to which CNC members have full source access. NEWT has been critical in our company development, and it sets us apart from the majority of CFD consultancies who are limited to modifying Commercial Off-The-Shelf packages (COTS).

The current paradigm is to market general-purpose codes in binary form with very limited scope for user-defined modelling. Our vision with NEWT is to breed, at source code level, core CFD technology to suit specialist applications.

Industrial Organisations are not burdened with either poorly matched commercial code, nor the heavy cost of developing an in-house CFD capability from scratch. With NEWT we allow clients to buy-in and retain an in-house CFD capability to meet all their future needs.
