Case study
Formula 1 poses some unique challenges to CFD, not least of which being the time consuming CAD-to-Mesh issues. Quick turnaround of solutions are key and, in order for CFD to be suitable for rapid prototyping or optimisation applications, there exists a need to be able to manipulate the geometry in the same way as in a wind tunnel.
With MeshTools, an input mesh can be turned around in a couple of hours to reflect a change in rideheight or steer. Through the use of an optimisation routine, the mesh quality is guaranteed, with viscous layers preserved; in fact, in many cases, the mesh quality is improved.
